Notaries and Administrative Managers Launch Digital Interconnection System to Simplify Legal and Business Procedures

The General Council of Notaries and the General Council of Administrative Managers of Spain presented this Thursday, 21 May, in Madrid a new professional interconnection system that will enable certain notarial procedures to be carried out entirely online through administrative management offices, while maintaining all legal guarantees and legal certainty requirements.

The initiative will streamline procedures such as the incorporation of limited liability companies, the granting and revocation of powers of attorney, commercial policies and certain corporate amendments through videoconference systems, qualified electronic signatures and secure connectivity via the GENOE platform.

During the presentation, two real operations were carried out entirely in digital format: the incorporation of a limited liability company and the granting of a private power of attorney.

Facilitating Access to Legal Services

The new system aims to facilitate access to legal and notarial services without the need for physical travel, particularly for elderly individuals, citizens with reduced mobility and residents of rural or depopulated areas of Spain.

The President of the General Council of Notaries, Concepción Pilar Barrio Del Olmo, stated that “notaries have spent many years demonstrating that legal certainty does not prevent the dynamism required by modern society”.

For his part, the President of the General Council of Administrative Managers of Spain, Fernando Jesús Santiago Ollero, stated that the initiative represents “a new way of bringing legal certainty closer to citizens”.

Procedures from Home, Hospitals, Care Homes or Abroad

The system will allow certain procedures to be initiated and completed through an administrative management office, from the user’s home, hospitals, care homes or even from abroad, always with the assistance of the administrative manager and the authorisation of the chosen notary.

The interconnection incorporates advanced identification and electronic signature systems, together with traceability and security mechanisms designed to guarantee the authenticity of all transactions carried out.

During the event, institutional cooperation between notaries and administrative managers was also highlighted as a collaborative model aimed at improving the services offered to citizens, self-employed professionals and companies.
